Sagarmala Programme

The Sagarmala Programme, initiated by the Government of India, aims to promote port-led development by modernizing India’s ports and empowering coastal communities through skill enhancement. Under this initiative, ORMAS (Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society) has been implementing specialized training programmes for coastal youth in Odisha.

The training focuses on developing competencies in maritime, logistics, and port-related sectors, enabling youth from coastal regions to secure sustainable employment and contribute to regional economic growth.

ASMACS Skills Involvement

  • In 2017, ASMACS Skill Development Limited (ASDLT) was awarded the Sagarmala Project under ORMAS.
  • The project targeted the training of 140 candidates in the Electrician trade.
  • Successfully trained all candidates with a placement rate exceeding 70%.

Through its participation in the Sagarmala Programme, ASMACS Skills continues to support the nation’s maritime vision by equipping coastal youth with practical, industry-relevant skills that drive both individual and community growth.
